Every time we look at a portrait, we are somehow influenced by the identity of those pictured. In ‘Gazing’ (2017) my aim was to focus on how it’s the woman, with all her intention and her presence, who is representing herself. Her gaze, as she looks at the camera or the viewer, is the moment that remains even after we look away. We take that gaze with us wherever we go.
The artworks in this series are photographs that have been translated into cyanotype prints on cotton fabric.
